Dia de la Raza

Definition: Latin Americans and Hispanics celebrate October 12 as the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's discovery of the New World.

In the United States it is known as Columbus Day and is observed on the second Monday in October.

The Spanish name means Day of the Race and is a time to remember how the Spanish race, as in people, influenced the world.
