Mummering

Definition: Starting on Boxing Day, December 26, and through the holiday period, homes in Newfoundland, Canada are visited by neighbors dressed as mummers, sometimes known as janneys, johnnies, maskers or mumpers. They sing, dance, play music but try to disguise their voice.

Although the tradition is not as popular as it once was they use to have parades and festivals for Mummering.

In Philadelphia, Mummering is also celebrated on New Year's Eve.
