Now Ruz

Definition: Fire-jumping is just part of the preparations for the Middle Eastern Now Ruz Festival, which began more than 2500 years ago.

Although Now Ruz [meaning new day] was originally a Zoroastrian festival, it is now celebrated on the first full day of spring, March 20 or 21 by people of every religion in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the Middle East.

Now Ruz is a national holiday in Iran.
