The Callahan Cousins: Summer Beginsby Elizabeth Doyle Carey
Hardcover: 272 pages
Imagine a summer on a rambling seaside estate with four girls your own age, who happen to be your cousins, and with NO parents around!
Look out, Gull Island! The 12-year-old Callahan cousins Phoebe, Hillary, Neeve, and Kate are spending the summer at their grandmother’s estate on Gull Island.
Ten whole weeks without any parents and the chance for adventures they won’t soon forget. The cousins quickly find themselves caught up in an old island rivalry. Determined to defend the Callahan honor.
Will they end up as family heroes...or get themselves sent home?
The Callahan Cousins: Summer Begins is a wonderful read for any young girl. A story rich in family loyalty and friendship, adventure and fun without objectionable topics. A refreshing change we don't see often enough. Even as an adult I found myself wishing I too was on the island with the girls, exploring, plotting and creating an inseparable bond with them.
You may not have your own island to sneak off to this summer, but you can read The Callahan Cousins: Summer Begins and get caught up in the cousins adventures yourself.
This is the first book in a series featuring the Callahan cousins, the next book, Callahan Cousins, The: Home Sweet Home will be released in September 2005.
