Foot and Mouth Outbreak: On February 19th, "a routine veterinary inspection at an abattoir, in Essex, near London, England showed "highly suspicious" signs of foot-and-mouth disease in 27 pigs. The disease spread throughout the next 6 months.
Dale Earnhardt Killed
Dale Earnhardt, one of the greatest stars in auto racing history, died from injuries in a last-lap crash after hitting the wall on the final turn of the Daytona 500 while fighting for the 3rd position.
