The G8 (Group of 8) is a group of eight countries, plus the European Union.
The Leaders of these countries meet annually for an important meeting,
called the G8 Summit.
The countries involved in this years G8 Summit include:
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Japan
- Russia
- United Kingdom
- United States
- European Union
This year the G8 Summit is being held in Kananaskis Country, Alberta
, Canada.
At the Summit, the Leaders discuss a variety of global issues. This year
the three main themes are:
- Strengthening global economic growth and sustainable development;
- building a new partnership for Africa's development; and
- fighting terrorism.
