Greeting Card Contest

Hey Kids! The 2002 Pier 1/UNICEF Greeting Card Contest kicked off its 11th consecutive year on March 1, 2002; the contest is being held during the month of March, which is National Art Month, and ends April 12, 2002.

This year’s contest features a new theme -- Children’s Dreams of Peace. U.S. children are encouraged to share their views and hopes of peace for children across the globe.

Ten winners will be selected from the entries. From the ten finalists, two grand-prize winners will be chosen; their designs will be reprinted as UNICEF cards and sold nationwide at Pier 1 Imports stores and online at Pier 1 beginning September 2002.

Children's Dreams of Peace All money raised from the sale of these cards is donated to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. The two grand prize winners will also win a trip for three and $500 cash, and the eight runners up will win $50, a donation made to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in their name and a framed plaque of their card.

Entries must be hand-drawn and received at the home office of Pier 1 Imports by April 12, 2002. For Pier 1 store locations, to obtain an entry packet, or for further contest information, call 1-800-245-4595. Those who are hearing impaired should call 1-800-754-3251.

Entry forms may also be found online at Pier 1.

Pick up an entry form, grab your pencil, pen, crayons, color markers and/or paints and create your card today. You may just have your drawing on a UNICEF greeting card.
