Essay Contest - Cell Phone Safety and Courtesy

Essay Contest Weekly Reader has teamed up with The Wireless Foundation for an educational program about cell phone safety and courtesy.

Students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 can enter an essay contest at Share Your Cell Phone Story now and until November 15th.

To qualify, students must submit an original essay in 200 words or less on one of these topics:

  • I was really happy to have a cell phone with me when…
  • Of all the times I needed a cell phone, the one that I'll never forget was…
  • The most unexpected way I've ever used a cell phone was when…
Contest starts at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 1, 2005 and ends at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on November 15, 2005. U.S. Residents Only. Complete rules can be found here.

Grand Prize winner gets to spend two days in DC and share their story at the annual Foundation dinner. Students and their teachers win gift certificates; 6 winners in all.
