Kansas City, KS (June 28, 2005) – To encourage and celebrate the creative talents and skills of student authors and illustrators, Landmark Editions, Inc. is pleased to announce The 2006 David Melton Memorial Written & Illustrated By… Contest for Students TM.

Students may enter their original books in one of three age categories which matches their own age: 6 to 9, 10 to 13, and 14 to 19. Each book must be written and illustrated by the same student. There is an entry fee of $10.00 and all entries must be postmarked on or before May 1, 2006.

One winner is chosen from each age category. Winners receive a publishing contract and an all-expense-paid trip to Landmark Edition’s headquarters in Kansas City, KS. There, Landmark’s professional staff will assist them in the editing, refining, and final production of their books. Within a year, the students will become published authors and illustrators and paid royalties from future book sales.

The competition will be judged by a qualified national panel of professional editors, writers, illustrators, teachers, and librarians. Judges will be looking specifically at the writing and illustrating skills displayed as well of the originality of the works. Winners will be notified by October 1, 2006.
