The 2005 holiday season is coming up. With that, we take a look at the latest toys that could be the "hot toy" for 2005.
Star Wars is a big theme this year for kids of all ages. My personal favorite is Darth Tater, that's right, Mr. Potato Head dressed like Darth Vader. What took so long? It seems so obvious now. You'll also find Star Wars character figures, Lego, video games and board games popular for boys this year.
On the tech side of things, Wow Wee International Ltd. has come out with Robosapien. Designed by NASA scientists this multi-speed walking, running and turning robot with full-function arms and grippers is quite the toy. It features 67 pre-programmed functions and up to 84 programmable steps. With the price tag at over $90 USD, this one probably isn't for kids. For the dino fan, Wow Wee also has Roborapter, similar to Robosapien, with a dino twist.
There are lots of different tech toys available again this year from robots to pets. Some with a much lower price tag than Robosapien.
For girls, My Scene™ from Mattel, seem to be a big hit. The "new tween-targeted brand from the makers of Barbie®" is said to "capture the spirit of today’s informed, independent and fiercely individualistic urban girl like never before." The line was "inspired by the fashion-forward, high-energy, chic attitude of the big city". The new merchandise line includes not just the dolls, but all the accessories that go with them.
Leapster™ Learning Game System, a multimedia learning system that engages children in creative fun continues to add to their line of products with new themes. Very popular last year, there's little doubt Leapster will again be hopping off shelves early.
Classic toys like Barbie, Lego, Care Bears and board games like Monopoly and Sorry continue to update themes to reflect the times. Even Cabbage Patch kids are making a comeback. This year Elmo sings & dances to another classic song: Shout!
