Ravensburger celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2008!
The Ravensburger story began with Otto Maier in 1883 in Ravensburg, Germany. Having been inspired by the profound words of an educator, he began the foundation of what was to become Ravensburger. His vision was based on the educator’s simple premise: “By playing, children acquire knowledge and learn independence. With games, children explore the world around them. Give them toys for their heads, hands and heart!” And there began the Ravensburger journey.
Over the last 125 years the company has experienced its share of changes. A broad range of products from books, puzzles, games, TV shows, and arts and crafts kits have all carried the Ravensburger name. Through that myriad of twists and turns, the journey has lead Ravensburger to where it is today, a leader in the toy world. Nine subsidiaries around the globe have made the Ravensburger name synonymous with quality. The company now distributes to more than 50 countries throughout the world.
Ravensburger is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2008. The American subsidiary, based in Newton, NH, has just celebrated their best year yet. And it keeps getting better. The introduction of new concepts such as puzzleball®, along with brands such as F.X. Schmid, WOW, Simba, and Siku have only added to their success.
