Kids Preferred Celebrates 70th Anniversary of Madeline With Plush Redhead For Little Arms to Hug

Madeline 70th Anniversary

Ooh-la-la! Madeline Plush Line Displayed at Toy Fair Booth 2941

East Windsor, N.J. (February 1, 2009) – In 1939 a storybook about a little French girl captivated boys and girls with an illustrated tale of spunk, determination and compassion. In 2009 American children will be heard saying merci beaucoup as they wrap their arms around a soft version of that precocious Parisian redhead, Madeline, the newest literary license awarded to Kids Preferred.

Visitors to Booth 2941 at the American International Toy Fair can celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Madeline with Kids Preferred, one of the leading U.S. plush manufacturers, who will showcase 7 new products in their plush line including specially packaged dolls, beanies and soft and hardcover books.

Kids Preferred has developed three plush models of Madeline plus her dog, Genevieve. The spunky literary character, beloved for seven decades on both sides of the Atlantic, is the star of books, a television series and a feature film.

Madeline is often seen wearing her signature yellow sailor hat and blue uniform coat with a crisp white collar.

As any little girl can recite from the pages of Ludwig Bemelmans’ classic tale, Miss Clavel oversees the education of 12 little girls, the littlest of whom is the mischievous Madeline. Madeline's daily adventures in late 1930s France show her with her friends in a Paris boarding school breaking bread, brushing their teeth, going for a walk in two straight lines and then, somehow, falling into a wild adventure. Each storybook shows Madeline's bravery and kindness, especially in the face of adversity.

Kids Preferred has designed a 70th Anniversary edition of Madeline that will be on specialty store shelves in early April. All other products are available now.
