SEATTLE (Feb. 11, 2008) — Hillary was in the White House. John Glenn returned to space. Amazon.com only sold books, and Starbucks had fewer than 2,000 stores. But in several hundred of those coffee shops was a party game poised to make history.
The year was 1998. The game was CRANIUM. The premise was simple: Give everybody the chance to shine. The CRANIUM brand today kicked off its 10-year anniversary — and that of its namesake adult party game, CRANIUM — with the announcement that it is being celebrated yet again. CRANIUM WOW, the newest edition of CRANIUM, is one of five finalists for the Toy Industry Association (TIA) Game of the Year award. Considered the "Academy Award" of the toy industry, the coveted TIA Game of the Year (GOTY) award will be announced Sat., Feb. 16, 2008, as the kick off to American International Toy Fair in New York City.
If CRANIUM WOW wins the 2008 TIA GOTY, it will be the sixth TIA GOTY win for the CRANIUM brand, and a record in the game industry. Past CRANIUM winners include the original CRANIUM, CRANIUM CADOO, CRANIUM ZOOREKA and CRANIUM HULLABALOO, which won the award twice.
