FOLKMONSTERS™ SCARE UP SALES New Line of Amusing Puppets Will Have Kids Screaming with Fun

(Virtual Press Office) -(EMERYVILLE, CA – February 12, 2011) FOLKMANIS, INC. – Keeping Hands Happy for 35 Years – scares up its first-ever monster line affectionately called FOLKMONSTERS™. The new brand was born this spring as the company releases two of the FolkMonsters to the public: BLUEPER and TWICKETY. They can be seen on the website at http://www.folkmanis.com or at any spring trade show, including the American International Toy Fair being held in Manhattan New York at the Jacob K. Javits Conventions Center February 13th – 16th; Folkmanis is in booth #2523.

“We are so very excited to present this line. It covers such a wide spectrum of consumers – virtually everyone will find a FolkMonster they will want as we introduce more puppets to the FolkMonster brand,” says Elaine Kollias, marketing director. “FolkMonsters are whimsical puppets with unique personalities. They are adorable and irresistible to kids and their parents, college students and grandparents, women and men – all will fall for our FolkMonsters.”

Two FolkMonsters debut this spring: BLUEPER and TWICKETY. Both are two-handed puppets, and are big and cuddly on their own. As with all Folkmanis puppets, the FolkMonsters will provide all ages with infinite play value. Both have S.R.P. of $34.

The FolkMonsters back story is: FolkMonsters began late one night when a Folkmanis designer was closing her workroom for the night. She was tired and worn out from a day of cutting and sewing puppets, and felt none of her new designs looked quite right. Too tired to clean up the floor she mumbled to herself, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” as she clicked off the lights and closed the door behind her. Leaving the building, she looked up to see a shooting star flash across the night sky. “I wish for some great puppet ideas,” she said as she slid into her car and drove away.

What she failed to see was a small meteorite falling to earth and streaking right through her design room window, landing with a soft “thump” on the pile of colorful scraps and notions on the floor. What happened next can only be described as magical or scientific or just plain amazing, but a spark from the space spores of the cooling rock caused the fabrics to shuffle and move, bind and bend, twist and turn and join, forming amazing new creations. Soon the room was aglow with bright colors as new puppets came to life. The FolkMonsters were born! . “FolkMonsters make delightful friends and are not scary at all,” says Kollias. “Their heartwarming faces and bright colors will capture consumers’ hearts.”

Twickety is a bird-like creature with a fluorescent green-yellow body and colorful, flying dinosaur-like wings. She has a tuff of yellow hair, likes lemonade, popping bubble wrap, and doing crafts. Her favorite place to sleep is in a nest of super-soft things.

Blueper, on the other hand, likes to sleep on a hard, warm circuit board. He is super fuzzy, blue with orange stripes. His favorite foods are oranges and blueberries; if he doesn’t eat enough of these his beautiful fur colors start to fade. He likes to invent things.
