Malibu, CA – February 17, 2008 – SpongeBob SquarePants®, one of the most popular animated kids shows in television history, has inspired a new toy line that’s diving onto retail shelves this fall. Play Along, a division of JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (Nasdaq: JAKK) and Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products debut their brand new SpongeBob SquarePants plush toys at the 2008 American International Toy Fair. Stuffed to the gills with SpongeBob silliness, the new plush products will have fans bobbbin’ with delight. True SpongeBob aficionados will have their first-ever, episode-themed plush, which comes packaged with a DVD featuring some of the show’s most popular episodes.

“Our new SpongeBob SquarePants’ plush line is completely irresistible,” said Sherice Torres, senior vice president/hard goods for Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. “Play Along has done an amazing job translating some of the most popular SpongeBob episodes into collectible plush characters. SpongeBob SquarePants debuted on Nickelodeon in 1999 and has since become a world-wide favorite for viewers of all ages. As the always optimistic and well-intentioned sponge who works as a fry cook in the underwater world of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob is known for being lovable and loyal with a can-do attitude, even in the stickiest predicaments.

SpongeBob plush toys will be available in two sizes and outfitted in themed looks based on some of the favorite episodes of all time. Products include:

  • ‘Beanbag’ size plush, which includes a special collector’s card. Suggested Retail Price $5.99
  • ‘Larger’ plush will also be on shelf for Fall ’08 and will be the first ever SpongeBob plush to be sold with a companion episode on DVD. Ages 3+, Suggested Retail Price $14.99
