They're Baaaack! Madballs Series II Debuts

Southampton, PA – The madness continues as Basic Fun, Inc. releases its second series of the hugely popular 1980's toy line, Madballs, to a new generation of kids, teens and collectors at Comic-Con 2008. The freaky-looking rubber balls, with grossly sculpted faces and graphically colorful names like Freaky Fullback and Oculous Orbus, will be available for sale exclusively at Comic-Con 2008. The first 1,000 fans to purchase Madballs Series II product will receive a signed and numbered original Madballs art poster created by Madballs artist and designer Jim Groman.

The Madballs Classic Series II includes six disgusting styles of soft foam rubber balls that are approximately the size of a baseball. Each ball is highly detailed with an outrageous face bursting with freakish fun and personality. They include classic 1980's favorites: Freaky Fullback, Oculus Orbus, Swine Sucker, Wolf Breath, Dust Brain and all new Blech Beard (the mutant pirate). This series will begin shipping to mass and specialty retailers beginning August 2008 and will retail for a suggested $5.99.

The Madballs Sick Series II takes the "yuck factor" up a notch with three styles, sized slightly larger, with over-the-top, repulsive functions. For example, squeeze Freaky Fullback and his brains bubble out of his cracked football helmet! Blech Beard's eye patch opens and his eyeball bursts out of its socket when you squish him! And with a single squash to Dust Brain, this mummy's head bubbles through his bandages to reveal creepy worms and maggots! The Madballs Sick Series II will hit stores for holiday '08 and retails for a suggested $6.99.

Additionally, more exciting events are happening with Madballs with the new website, http://www.Madballs.com scheduled to launch in October 2008 with repulsive games and activities that appeal to boys. The Basic Fun Madballs product will be supported by a Nickelodeon multimedia campaign including TV and print advertising promoting the toys starting in the fall.

Originally unleashed in 1986, Madballs were considered absolutely repulsive…and immediately became wildly popular! This success paved the way for a new generation of charmingly repulsive merchandise. Alan Dorfman, President of Basic Fun, spoke enthusiastically about the brand saying, "Madballs are the right product for the right time – the brand has the perfect synergy: it's gross, funny and totally irreverent. We love the opportunity to bring Madballs to a new generation. And with a few new twists, Madballs will be even more disgusting and hilarious than ever! We are excited to work with American Greetings Properties to re-introduce their classic toy."
