HABA’S TOYS MAY INSPIRE “PRETEND PLAY” BUT THERE’S NOTHING PRETEND ABOUT THEIR 2010 OPPENHEIM AWARDS
HABA Receives A Trio of 2010 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Awards
East Windsor, NJ (October 21, 2010) – For more than 70 years HABA has been making toys that
inspire children’s imagination and creativity. You could say (and you’d be right!) that they’re
experts at pretend play. But the recent announcement that HABA has received both Platinum and
Gold 2010 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Awards shows there’s nothing made-up about the
company’s success.
Founded in 1989 by mother and daughter child development experts, Joanne and Stephanie
Oppenheim, the Oppenheims review the best in children’s media on their website
(www.toyportfolio.com). Their awards have become the benchmark of excellence with both consumers and industry insiders. The Oppenheims are Contributors to NBC’s TODAY Show. Visit www.toyportfolio.com to view winners or more information and click on Stephanie’s Blog tab.
Here’s what the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio had to say about HABA’s products:
OPPENHEIM TOY PORTFOLIO PLATINUM AWARD
WINNER: These represent the most innovative, engaging new products of the year.
HABA Shopping Cart Caddy • Preschool • $125.00
For pretend play that is not gender specific, this birch wood cart is
ideal. It is made of beautiful birch wood and has blue tires with
rubber treads that roll with ease. The cart itself is fitted out with a
place for a doll or teddy bear and plenty of room for the groceries.
It's beautifully balanced, so that even a younger toddler who
pushes it about will not have it tip. That said, the company says
this is for kids 3 & up.
OPPENHEIM TOY PORTFOLIO GOLD SEAL AWARD WINNER: Given to outstanding new products that enhance the lives of children.
HABA Suitcase Sets • Preschool, Early School Years • $17.00
Technically not a toy, but off the charts fun! Each set
comes with three small suitcases (think lunch box
size and work down from there) -- that nest into each
other. Just like nesting dolls, the case within a case
absolutely delighted our testers. There's a traffic
themed set (just right to carrying about Hot Wheels
and Matchbox cars) and a pink themed set as
well. Just right for kids that are into miniature action
figures/animals.
