Revolutionary Colored Bubbles Awarded Popular Science's Best of What's New 2005 Grand Award for General Innovation
ST. PAUL, Minn. --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 8, 2005 Breakthrough Invention in Color Change Process Technology Leads to Creation of the World's First Colored Bubbles
Ascadia, a product design company based in Minnesota, announced today that it has won the Popular Science "Best of What's New 2005" Grand Award for General Innovation for its groundbreaking invention of colored bubbles -- a range of richly-colored, nearly-opaque bubbles whose color disappears when exposed to air, water or pressure.
Bubbles, a classic staple of the toy industry, have long been a source of delight and fascination for children the world over. Now, the creative minds at Ascadia have combined the simple joy of bubbles with the beauty and magic of color. For the first time, children will be able to choose their favorite colored bubbles, and experience the magic of watching the color disappear before their eyes. Zubbles(R), as they will be known, are the brain child of Tim Kehoe, VP of R&D, and Ram Sabnis, Senior Chemist of Ascadia. Tim, the original inventor, spent more than 10 years with Edison-like perseverance, conducting experiments from his kitchen sink, chasing what often seemed like an impossible dream. Tim comments, "It is a huge honor to receive this award from Popular Science. Many chemists told me over the years it simply couldn't be done. It is very gratifying to finally achieve success."
Zubbles will be showcased at the Popular Science "Best of What's New" exhibition in New York's Grand Central Station, November 8-10. "Best of What's New is the ultimate Popular Science accolade, representing a year's worth of work evaluating thousands of products" says Mark Jannot, editor of Popular Science. "These awards honor innovations that not only influence the way we live today, but that change the way we think about the future."
Colored bubbles are the first application developed by Ascadia in collaboration with C2C Technologies, the emerging leader in color change process technology.
