PARAMOUNT LICENSING TO REPRESENT JAPANESE SENSATION ANGEL CAT SUGAR IN U.S., CANADIAN, MEXICAN & CENTRAL AMERICAN TERRITORIES|
First New Character From Hello Kitty Creator In 28 Years; Already A Proven Hit in Asia & Europe
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Paramount Licensing Inc. has acquired the rights to serve as licensing agent for Japanese new character sensation, Angel Cat Sugar. The first new character in 28 years from Yuko Shimizu, creator of global evergreen hit Hello Kitty, Angel Cat Sugar is a cuddly, cute and loveable princess cat of the Angel World, with healing powers and the ability to make everyone happy. Angel Cat Sugar is joined by her friends, Basil, a precocious girl mouse, Parsley, a reliable and knowledgeable boy mouse, and Thyme, a cheerful, lively boy mouse. The gentle artwork is graphically strong with a clear, colorful palette, appealing to children from infant through `tween ages and teen girls.
Paramount Licensing is representing the property in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America in all categories. Licensees are currently being sought in accessories, apparel, back-to-school, stationery, collectibles, domestics and linens, electronics, food and beverage, gift and novelties, health & beauty, housewares, infant/toddler, interactive games, party goods, plush, publishing and toys and games.
"Paramount Licensing has a formidable in-house sales team and global network of agents," said Michael Corcoran, president, Paramount Licensing, Inc.'s Consumer Products & Recreation Group. "For properties with proven cross-cultural appeal such as Angel Cat Sugar, we can help give these properties the extra push they need to cut through the clutter in these western territories."
First introduced in 2002, Angel Cat Sugar had its worldwide merchandise launch in Japan in March, 2003, rapidly growing to over 200 products now at retail in Asia and Europe today. In 2005, the Japanese publishing program launched, also with great success. The property has been a media hit in Japan, with Angel Cat Sugar servicing as a TV program mascot, appearing in-store and at seasonal events, making talk show appearances, participating in promotional campaigns, and in magazine and newspaper editorial, proving the character's strong consumer appeal.
The license was granted to Paramount by Sun R & P, Co., Ltd, worldwide agent for Angel Cat Sugar. A comprehensive style guide is available with character art, badges, logos and patterns targeting children through `tweens, and style guide updates will be provided.
