About the Franchise
All of Disney's Air Bud and "Buddies" movies celebrate friendship and teamwork. In 1997, the first feature, Air Bud, started it all. It introduced "Bud," the athletic full-grown Golden Retriever, and became a hit with families around the world. The sports-themed series would go on to delight families with content appropriate for even the youngest viewers, exploring classic values such as good sportsmanship and loyalty, among others, as Bud tried his paw at basketball, football, soccer, baseball and even beach volleyball.
The introduction of adorable puppy movies with talking characters, followed the "Bud" movies in 2006, with Air Buddies. It quickly became the biggest live-action Direct-To-DVD movie of the year. 2008 brought Snow Buddies, another triumph as the pups competed in an Alaskan dogsled adventure. The film again achieved top-dog status, becoming the best-selling live-action Direct-to- DVD of all time*! Just a year later, Space Buddies sent the puppies where no dog has gone before, launching yet another fan favorite. Later that year, the pups travelled to the North Pole for their first holiday adventure with Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws which spurred the 2010 prequel, The Search for Santa Paws.
